Welcome To The Pilot Club of Crystal River
Welcome to the Pilot Club of Crystal River website.
Our club was chartered July 21, 1978 at which time we had twenty-six Pilots became Chartered members. Today we have twenty-four members and one of our original chartered members, Barbara Berg, is still active in the club.
Pilot International
The Pilot International Headquarters in located in Macon, Georgia. We have Pilot Clubs and Anchor Clubs in 7 Countries. Each year we have our International Convention here in the United States. This year Louisville Kentucky will be our host. The Pilot International Foundation handles our Grants and Goals. Each year Pilot clubs submitted Grants to help improve their communities. The PIF also gives out Scholarships to students.
Florida District
Some of our club members have served on the Florida District level. The following members served as The Florida District Governor; Barbara McKeever 1986-87, Diana Kingree 1993-94 and Joyce Centrella 2008-09. We currently have 36 clubs in the Florida District.
Anchor Club
We sponsor an Anchor Club at Crystal River High School. The members help the Pilot Club by presenting the Brain Minders Buddies Program to the Elementary School and to the Pre-K schools. They also participate in the Scarecrow Festival and attend the Anchor Convention in Kissimmee.
Fundraising
Our club fundraises throughout the year so we can give back to our community. We give donations or do hands on projects. We are proud to give to the Pregnancy & Life Center in Inverness, Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranch, Alzheimer’s Family Organization, Day Star, Key Center, $1000 scholarship to Crystal River High School Student and NAMI. These are just a few of the organizations that we have helped over the years.
Scholarship House
The Florida District is the only Pilot District that owns and operates three Scholarship Houses in the state of Florida. They are located at Florida State University (Tallahassee), University of Florida (Gainesville) and Florida Gulf Coast University (Ft. Myers).
